46 Year Old Yoga Teacher Finds Relief At The End Of The Day On Her Biomat

A typical day for yoga teacher Nancy Candea includes 2-3 yoga classes, 1 or 2 personal clients, 3-6 hours at the computer, one walk with two dogs, home chores, and miscellaneous parenting activities (she has two daughters).  Although she loves her work and her home, her body can feel like a bag of children’s blocks and silly putty by the end of a long day.  “I used to wish that I could teach the dogs some massage therapy to justify their laying around all day, so I could put them to work when I stepped in the door,” says Candea with a wistful look on her face, which is quickly replaced with a smile, “Well, until I got my Biomat.”

The Biomat is an infrared heat pad that releases negative ions and incorporates the healing power of amethyst crystals.  It was built using Nobel Prize-winning research on negative ions, infrared heating technology from NASA, and ancient knowledge of the healing properties of amethyst.

Candea says that the Biomat’s effects on her entire being became quickly apparent. She felt more clear energy, better digestion, “happy joints”, warmer, and calmer. “This feels like yoga at the beach and then a shower under a waterfall,” says Candea who recently moved to Colorado from Hawaii.

For more documented studies and a free introductory session on the Biomat please contact Nancy Candea at 303.447.YOGA (9642) or candea@peakpeak.com

Class consists of dynamic yoga poses for strength, flexibility, balance. breath work and deep relaxation. Hands on adjustments, understanding of our subtle energy core and vitality, and how the work of our yoga practice translates to our lives are all included in Nancy’s energizing flow yoga classes.

Yoga BodyWork

Yoga Bodywork is a one-on-one, hands- on yoga session that enables the body to release deeply into poses. Yoga Bodywork is a very compassionate method for understanding yoga poses. This session of restorative yoga poses is done on a biomat, an infrared heat pad that releases negative ions and incorporates the healing power of amethyst crystals. After a session of Yoga Bodywork participants can expect to feel a greater sense of vitality, peacefulness, “stretched out” and increased freedom from aches and pains. Please call Nancy to schedule an appointment.

Philosophy

I think that the only way to truly help someone make positive changes in their health and fitness is to find out what their passion in life is, what in their daily routine sparks their vitality and what zaps their energy. Although the hour or two or three that they spend with me in a session or in class every week is important unless a client understands how living a healthy lifestyle is the support system for doing what they love, all the yoga, weight training skills or nutrition facts that I give them will fall to the wayside 3-6 months down the road.

Strength and Flexibility and Cardio Training:
Personal training begins with an assessment to help you understand your body's specific needs for proper alignment and for overcoming strength and flexibility imbalances.  In depth core work can serve as a foundation with the goal of creating realistic and fun fitness plans to improve overall strength, cardio, flexibility, breath work and focus.

Nutrition Coaching.
My approach to nutritional coaching involves working together one-on-one to bridge the gap between where a person is with their current bodyweight or food patterns and where they want to be with them.  I think that most people just need some fine tuning to their current diet and encouragement to keep up with healthy eating patterns that they intuitively know. Nutrition coaching can be done alone or added onto an overall training program.

Private Yoga Instruction
Individual Yoga Instruction is for individuals who are not able to fit a yoga class in their life or enjoy working one-on-one with a yoga instructor. Sessions can help with developing a home practice, developing a positive mental attitude, and recovery issues, such as breathe work, back problems, injuries, fatigue, illness, stress related disorders, & post-operative recovery.

I very much recommend Nancy Candea as a yoga instructor and physical trainer. I found her approach earthy and ‘in the body.’

I was given her name as someone who could help me develop an approach to doing yoga, and opening up my hips. I’d spent a few years in an academic environment and was quite stiffened up. She started work with me by teaching me a series of exercises to strengthen my ‘core’ as a way of getting a good physical basis for starting a practice of yoga. This was of benefit because it gave me a lot more stability and confidence as I eased into postures she taught during the two or so months I was going to her studio in Boulder. At the same time I was working with an osteopath who was working with adhesions and muscle difficulties in my lower abdomen left over from a traumatic surgery many years ago. After I started the work with Nancy he was quick to notice how my core strength had begun to improve. He was happy with her work as it supported what he was doing.

Nancy had a kind and sensitive approach to developing the course of exercises and postures. She kept an eye out for how I was doing on any particular day, how physically tired I was and how difficult the conditions in my life were the days I was seeing her. This was very helpful as a good connection developed between us and I saw I had an ally and friend in developing a better relationship with a healthy body.

I’d recommend Nancy to anyone who wanted to improve their sense of body and mind connection through yoga and mindful movement.
